Office of the Health Ombudsman v Costello [2016] QCAT 117

On 16 May 2016, the matter of the Office of the Health Ombudsman v Costello was heard by the Hon J B Thomas in the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT). Judge Thomas made an order prohibiting Mr Paul Costello from providing any health service, indefinitely.

The Director of Proceedings made a decision to refer this matter to QCAT on the basis that Mr Costello posed a serious risk to the public. Mr Costello’s conduct related to the sexual assault of an Aboriginal patient at the Murri Medical Centre in Caboolture.

QCAT’s decision means that Mr Costello cannot provide any health service in Queensland, indefinitely.

A copy of the decision is published on the Queensland Supreme Court Library website.
