Immediate registration action taken against Dr Sandeep Gupta

The Health Ombudsman took immediate registration action by imposing conditions on the registration of medical practitioner Dr Sandeep Gupta effective 23 October 2018.

As a result of the conditions, Dr Gupta is prohibited from promoting, prescribing or administering hyperthermia treatment, referring patients to other practitioners providing hyperthermia treatment, or participating in any patient consultation with other health practitioners about hyperthermia treatment; and must only prescribe, possess, supply, administer, handle, dispense, access, direct and supervise the administration of Vitamin C intravenous infusions of no more than 25 grams per patient to adults only.

Details of Dr Sandeep Gupta’s registration, including the full list of imposed conditions, can be viewed in full on the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency website.

In accordance with section 62(2) of the Health Ombudsman Act 2013 (the Act), the Health Ombudsman’s decision will continue to have effect until:

  • the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal sets the decision aside, or
  • the Health Ombudsman removes the conditions imposed on Dr Sandeep Gupta’s registration under section 65 of the Act.

The Health Ombudsman has the power to take immediate registration action under section 58.
