The Health Ombudsman took immediate registration action by imposing conditions on the registration of Dihan Taranga Aponso, Medical Practitioner (MED0001839250), effective 21 July 2026.

Scope of Practice

The conditions imposed include the requirements the practitioner:

  • While practising as an Orthopaedic Surgeon, the practitioner must submit to an audit of their patient records, including any supporting records (the audit) at their primary place of practice, within three (3) months of these conditions being imposed and thereafter on a bi-annual basis, unless otherwise directed by the Health Ombudsman. The practitioner must also submit to adhoc audits and audits of any other practice location where the practitioner provides a health service as determined by the Health Ombudsman.

The practitioner must advise the Office of the Health Ombudsman of any employment or practice location where the practitioner provides a health service (practises) as a registered health practitioner, for the duration of these conditions.

Period of action or order

In accordance with section 62(2) of the Health Ombudsman Act 2013 (the Act), the decision will continue to have effect until the earlier of the following happens –

  • the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal sets aside the decision;
  • the Health Ombudsman removes the conditions under section 65 of the Act.
