The Health Ombudsman may take disciplinary matters against registered health practitioners to the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT) for a final decision.

This is done through the Director of Proceedings, an independent position within the Office of the Health Ombudsman.

Any registered or unregistered health practitioner who is subject to an immediate action order can apply to QCAT to have their order reviewed.

Once QCAT has decided on a matter its findings are published. We report on the number of QCAT decisions finalised each month in our monthly performance reports. To view QCAT decisions, go to the Supreme Court Library Queensland website (see details below).

How to search QCAT decisions

1. Go to the Supreme Court Library Queensland website (this link will open in a new tab).

2. In CaseLaw – Advanced select from Court: Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal and Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal Appeals.

3. In the search box, type health ombudsman. And select Search.

4. In Refine facets results can be refined by range of Decision dates or by Publication date (ie when decision has been added to the website).
