The Health Ombudsman took immediate registration action by suspending the registration of Tom Sun Yap, effective 15 June 2022.

The suspension of registration means that Tom Sun Yap is prohibited from practising as a medical practitioner for the duration of the suspension. Details of Tom Sun Yap's registration can be viewed on the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency website.

In accordance with section 62(2) of the Health Ombudsman Act 2013 (the Act), the Health Ombudsman’s decision will continue to have effect until:

• the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal sets aside the decision
  or
• the Health Ombudsman revokes the suspension imposed on Tom Sun Yap's registration under section 65 of the Act.
