The Office of the Health Ombudsman (OHO) has released its latest monthly performance report showing 502 complaints were made to the health service complaints agency in July.

Health Ombudsman Leon Atkinson-MacEwen said it was the fourth time this year that 500 health service complaints have been received in a single month, suggesting growing public confidence in the OHO’s management of health complaints in Queensland.

“Our commitment is to provide Queenslanders with a fair, transparent, independent and accountable health complaints management system,” Mr Atkinson-MacEwen said.

“With complaints up 28 per cent compared with last year it’s clear that more Queenslanders feel they can make a complaint to us about a health service or a practitioner in the knowledge that it will be taken seriously and handled appropriately.”
