The Health Ombudsman issued an interim prohibition order imposing restrictions on the provision of health services provided by Hao Zhou (aka Adam Zhou), effective 16 September 2024.
Scope of Practice
The restrictions imposed include the requirements the practitioner:
- must not undertake any cupping therapy, treatment or service.
For the purposes of this restriction, cupping therapy, treatment or service is defined as the use of glass or silicone cups (or any other similar type of vessel) which are placed on the skin using a vacuum seal for a period of time, intended for therapeutic benefit. - must only practise as a health practitioner in employment and at practice location/s approved by the Health Ombudsman and published on the Office of the Health Ombudsman website.
Approved employment and practice locations
The Health Ombudsman has approved the practitioner’s employment as General Manager at the following practice location/s:
- Purposeful Massage Acupuncture Clinic, Shop 20 Hyperdome, Bryants Rd, Shailer Park QLD 4128
Period of action or order
In accordance with section 73(2) of the Health Ombudsman Act 2013 (the Act), the order continues to have effect until the earliest of the following happens –
- the order ends under section 90H of the Act;
- QCAT sets aside the decision to issue the order on application by the practitioner for a review of the decision;
- the Health Ombudsman revokes the order under section 76 of the Act.
